hello there friends!

my name is lillian cellan-jones, I’m an artist and fashion textiles designer. i was born in South-west London and my studio is now based here in Peckham.

i Graduated in 2020 from the London college of fashion AND sINCE THEN I have worked at HAUTE-COUTURE HOUSES AND ATELIERS INCLUDING Alexander McQueen, RICHARD QUINN, MARY KATRANTZOU AND HAND AND LOCK. I'VE SPENT TIME FREELANCING, designING samples for a luxury textiles export company AND RECENTLY i've exhibited ONE MY PIECES OF TEXTILE ART at the oxo tower SOUTHBANK.‘The Apron’ WAS inspired by my years working at a Butchers. Alongside this i work independently at my studio- where i am endeavouring to elevate my knowledge of textiles by studying pattern cutting and tailoring- i am currently looking for experiences/ jobs that will allow me to learn even more about garment/ costume making.

my pieces and textile ranges are rooted in the value of craftsmanship (in all its forms) and the slow-fashion philosophy. my focus is on sustaining and protecting ancient slow-craft processes and making them relevant in 2022. i have been largely inspired by small British businesses and the crafts and local communities they support. i specifically employ slow-textile practices and celebrate different crafts through the medium of my own; Embroidery. i enjoy subverting Traditional ideas about British culture to create collections that are luxury yet comical, regal yet accessible and which reflect my own identity.

working in the field of textiles is particularly compelling as we are currently experiencing a renaissance in the modern use of craft processes, the academic understanding of Textile Art is being re-understood, not only as a craft, but as a powerful form of self expression and an honoured medium of Fine Art.

many thanks for reading dear friends.
kindest regards,
lily
